Climatic and Geographic Design Criteria (PDF)

Residential

All residential one, two, and three family dwellings, and all detached accessory structures shall be constructed in accordance with the requirements of the Residential Code of Ohio, 2019 edition, as referenced in the Lucas County Building Code.

Commercial

All commercial and industrial buildings, excepting one, two, and three family dwellings, agricultural uses, and United States Department of Defense installations, shall be constructed in accordance with the requirements of the Ohio Building Code, 2024 edition.

Plumbing

The plumbing code adopted for both residential and commercial applications is the Ohio Plumbing Code, 2024 edition.

Mechanical - Commercial and Residential

The mechanical code adopted for both residential and commercial applications is the Ohio Mechanical Code, 2024 edition.

Energy - Commercial and Residential

The energy code adopted for residential applications is the International Energy Conservation Code, 2018 edition.  Commercial International Energy Conservation Code, 2021 edition.

Electrical - Commercial and Residential

The electrical code adopted for both residential and commercial applications is the 2023 National Electrical Code, NFPA - 70.
