Frequently Asked Questions
What is Lucas County Alerts?
Lucas County Alerts is an emergency alerts system that allows you to opt-in to receive emergency and/or community event notifications via phone calls, text messages, and/or emails based on the locations you care about. This service is free to users.
How is Lucas County Alerts different from the City of Toledo Alerts, Monclova Alerts, etc.?
Lucas County Alerts sends out emergency alerts such as snow emergency levels, tornado warnings, evacuation or shelter-in-place orders, etc. Some communities within Lucas County have chosen to create their own alerts for community events, road closures, leaf or trash pick up, etc. Create an account and sign in to see if your community has its own opt-in notifications.
What weather alerts can I receive and how will they be sent?
Severe weather alerts are automatically issued 24/7 by the National Weather Service. You can choose which weather events you'd like to be notified of (tornados, severe thunderstorms, flooding, winter weather, etc.) and which type of event (warning, watch, or advisory). The system also offers a "Quiet Time" option, which allows you to limit the times you receive weather alerts, excluding tornado warnings.
I can hear outdoor warning sirens going off, but I haven't received anything from Lucas County Alerts! Is something broken?
The National Weather Service issues weather alerts based on location polygons. These polygons are small, well-defined geographic areas that the National Weather Service has determined to be the area(s) where there is a potential threat. If your address is in an affected polygon, then you will receive a Lucas County Alert for it. If you did not receive a Lucas County Alert, then it may be possible that you are hearing a nearby outdoor warning siren but that your address is not in an affected polygon.
What if my phone number or email address changes?
You can login to your account at any time and update your contact information there.

What phone number and email will the alerts be coming from?
Lucas County Alerts texts will be coming from the short code 89362 until April 28th, 2025 when it will transition to the Sender ID 89361. These are new and different numbers from the old Lucas County Alerts system. If you receive a text message from either of these numbers, please know it is not spam. We recommend you save these numbers in your phone as Lucas County Alerts.
Lucas County Alerts emails will be coming from noreply@everbridge.net.
