The Board of Lucas County Commissioners voted to adopt a strategic plan on Tuesday that will guide future decision-making with a unified vision to provide high-quality services to Lucas County residents.
The 2025-2030 Strategic Plan is the first-ever conducted by the Board and was spearheaded by Commissioner Lisa A. Sobecki. It was completed with the help of consulting firm Experience Management Institute and incorporated interviews and written feedback from residents, elected officials, Lucas County employees, businesses, unions, community partners, and other stakeholders across the county.
“We’re so thrilled to launch this strategic plan that will guide our priorities and help us better serve our residents,” Commissioner Sobecki said. “Our unveiling of this plan today only serves as a launch point for work to be done in the coming years. I want to thank everyone who participated in this process to help make this a robust guide for what government service will look like in Lucas County. We’re excited to launch this plan, but even more excited to get to work and deliver for our residents.”
The plan features:
- Operational goals: Goals that outline day-to-day work that will help improve the operations of the Board over the next five years.
- Advocacy Areas: The Board’s stance on critical issues requiring action beyond internal operations, often at local, state, or national levels to drive systemic change aligned with community values.
- Mission, vision, and values statements
To compile information for the plan, the Board received 248 staff survey responses, 434 community survey responses, held 52 individual interviews with community leaders, led five department staff advisory meetings, and conducted 16 stakeholder focus groups.
The strategic plan addresses modern challenges County departments face and will help the Board achieve efficiency with a shared mission and vision for how Lucas County government should operate.
