COLUMBUS, Ohio — Lucas County Commissioners Lisa A. Sobecki and Pete Gerken were selected by their peers to serve in leadership positions with the County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO).
Commissioner Gerken was named secretary of CCAO’s executive committee and was sworn in on Thursday at the 2025 County Commissioners Association of Ohio/County Engineers Association of Ohio Winter Conference in Columbus.
This is Commissioner Gerken’s second leadership position within the statewide organization, which seeks to advance effective government for counties in Ohio through legislative advocacy, education and training, technical assistance and research, quality enterprise service programs, and great citizen awareness and understanding of county government.
“I am honored to join the executive committee after serving 20 years on the CCAO Board of Directors,” Commissioner Gerken said. “I will continue to advocate for the residents and businesses of Lucas County while in this role and strengthen our partnerships with other county leaders across Ohio.”
Commissioner Sobecki was again voted the CCAO representative for the National Association of Counties (NACo).
“I am thrilled to represent Lucas County and Ohio on the NACo Board of Directors,” Commissioner Sobecki said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to give our communities a voice at the national level and to continue to advocate for policies that benefit Lucas County residents and Ohioans.”
The NACo Board of Directors governs the strategic goals, policies, and priorities of the association and oversees its policies, business, and property.
