What is a wildcard and how does it work?
If you are unsure of a particular spelling or number, an asterisk (*) can be used as a wildcard. AREIS Online automatically adds a wild card to the end of any search.
Name - Enter an owner name. Use an asterisk before or after the name to use partial details (i.e. enter Mars* to find all properties whose owners names start with "Mars")
Address - Use an asterisk before or after the number to use partial details (i.e. enter 11* to find all properties whose street number starts with 11 / Enter Cent* to find all properties on streets that start with "CENT").
Parcel - Use an asterisk before or after the number to use partial details (i.e. enter 20* to find all properties that have a parcel number starting with "20")

Can I save a picture of a house or the map?
Front structure photos can be downloaded as a JPG file. Map files may be printed or exported using several different file types - PNG, GIF, JPG, BMP, or PDF. You will need some kind of picture viewer to view these files (standard on most computers).
4.
How often is AREIS Online updated?
AREIS is updated in real-time.
5.
How do I select multiple properties on the map?
AREIS Online includes several tools within the map to help select property. Hovering over the individual tools within the toolbar at the top of the map will display the name of the tool.
The SELECT tool allows for properties to be selected in several ways.
- Freehand select allows the user to draw and select any number of parcels that fall within the freehand drawing.
- Select by point selects an individual parcel
- Select by box selects property within a sizable square box
- Select by polygon selects properties within a user defined polygon (any number of sides).
- Select by line selects all properties touching a straight line placed by the user
6.
Can I see floodplains on AREIS Online?
Turned off by default, Floodplains can be turned on in the Map Contents box as a map layer. Please note that Floodplain information is maintained by the Lucas County Engineer's Office, not the Auditor's Office.

How do advanced searches work?
1. In the Criteria drop-down box, select the desired criteria you want to search on.
2. Once you have it selected a field(s) will appear below based on what you have chosen. You can enter your wording, dates, numbers, etc. Then click the Add button.
3. The criteria will then appear in the Current Search Criteria box to the right. You can then verify whether you entered the information correctly. If not, then select the item you need to change in the box and click on the Edit button to make your corrections. You will need to click on the Add button again to make the change effective.
4. Select another criteria item, enter a value and repeat until you have entered what you need to build a multi-criteria search.
5. If needed, use the Remove button to delete criteria.
6. For multiple criteria search enter criteria names separated by comma and without space (e.g. dodge, dane).
Note - All criteria are optional but at least one criterion must be entered to perform a search. Use an asterisk * before, or in the middle of the search words when you don't know the full details, spelling or want varied results with similar characteristics. For best results, do not include a street suffix (rd st ave) in the address field.
