Toledo and Lucas County Seek Applicants for Commission on Disabilities

Lucas County residents who wish to be considered to serve on the Toledo/Lucas County Commission on Disabilities are encouraged to apply, depending on where they live, through the City of Toledo or Lucas County websites. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 pm on May 27, 2016.

The major work of the Commission on Disabilities is to advocate on behalf of people with disabilities to improve their independence. The 21-member commission strives to create opportunities and coordinate resources to promote access so that people with disabilities may fully participate in our community. Members are selected to represent jurisdictions throughout Lucas County; at least 8 of the seats must be held by individuals or family members of people with disabilities. The City of Toledo and Lucas County actively seek to appoint volunteer boards and commissions that reflect the diversity of our community.

Residents in Toledo or Washington Township may apply for two current vacancies through the City of Toledo website at http://toledo.oh.gov/media/187559/Boards-and-Commission-Application.pdf.

To have an application mailed, please contact Alan Bannister at 419-936-1041 or email him at alan.bannister@toledo.oh.gov.

There are currently two vacancies in Eastern Lucas County and Southwestern Lucas County. Eastern Lucas County includes the Village of Harbor View; Jerusalem Township; and the City of Oregon, and Southwestern Lucas County includes the Villages of Harbor View, Holland, Waterville, and Whitehouse; Waterville, Monclova, Providence, and Springfield Townships; and the City of Maumee.

Applicants from the locations above may contact the Board of Lucas County Commissioners office at One Government Center, Suite 800, Toledo, Ohio, 43604, or by calling (419) 213-4500. A printable and fill-in version of the application is also available on the Lucas County Commissioners’ website at http://co.lucas.oh.us/DocumentCenter/Home/View/4263. The completed applications and resumes must be forwarded to the attention of Lucas County Project Manager Brittany Ford at the address listed above or via email at bford@co.lucas.oh.us.
