Kids are very special, and the younger they are the more needs they have. Since we cannot always be there to protect them, they need to know what to do when emergencies occur.
Fortunately, public safety officials have developed a number of programs through community service organizations that help children to recognize dangerous situations so that they can react quickly to protect themselves.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has developed a site for children, parents, and teachers called FEMA for Kids that provides activities with an element of fun so that kids can learn about the very serious side of being prepared for disasters. Let's Get Ready is a program for parents with children age 2-4 years that introduces the idea of being prepared for emergencies and how to plan to stay safe.
