Primary Funding Sources

Funds for Specific Projects are sometimes available from State or Federal sources. Lucas County actively pursues this outside funding. A large part of these funds for specific projects have come from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC). These OPWC funds are for infrastructure improvements and are distributed on a competitive basis.

Gas Tax:

We receive 8.8% of the County's share of the State's gasoline tax.

Visit the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) website for more information (see link below).

License Plate Fees:

The Statewide fee for passenger cars is $20 per vehicle. Other vehicle plate fees vary based on usage and weight. Lucas County has enacted two of the three allowable $5 per vehicle fees allowed by the State legislature to be enacted by Counties.

Other Funds include:

A portion of the traffic fines are distributed to the County Engineer.

Interest received on dedicated road funds.
