#1 Dog for 2010 - DaVinci
To promote responsible pet care and ownership throughout Lucas County, the Auditor's office sponsored the third annual "Pick of the Litter" photo contest.  After reviewing over 100 entries, DaVinci, a 10-month old Labradoodle, was chosen as our #1 dog for 2010.

DaVinci won the #1 dog tag for 2010, prize-winning photo on the 2011 dog tag renewal form, and a gift basket from Total Pet Care Services.

First Runner-Up, Skyler, a 2-year old Siberian Husky and Second Runner-Up, Sheba, a Labradoodle, both received gift certificates from Total Pet Services. All the winners received complimentary dog tags for 2010 from Auditor Anita Lopez and Interim Dog Warden Bonnie Mitchell.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's contest. Check back for details on how your pet can be Lucas County's #1 dog for 2011.

When Should I License My Dog?
All dogs over three months of age must have a new license every year by January 31 (for 2010 the deadline has been extended to February 26). The license must be purchased immediately after you acquire a dog. Every registered dog must wear a valid license tag at all times.

Where Can I License My Dog?
For a listing of places you can take your dog to get licensed, please view the 2009/2010 listing of Lucas County Dog Registration Agents.

Dog tags can also be purchased through the Lucas County Dog Warden's office at 410 S. Erie Street and the Lucas County Auditor's Office at One Government Center, Suite 770.

Why Should I License My Dog?
Licensing your dog is required by law. The license on a dog's collar will identify the owner so that the dog can be returned home. If a dog wearing a license and is turned into the Dog Warden's office, the owner will be notified either in person or by phone, and certified mail.
