It's Not Too Early to Think About Christmas!

Each holiday season, Lucas County Children Services (LCCS) asks area residents to “Give the Best Gift Ever.”

The agency’s Holiday Gift Drive is co-sponsored by LCCS, the Friends of Lucas County Children Services (FLCCS) and several community partners. The community-based campaign is expected to provide gifts to as many as 2,000 children who are victims of abuse and neglect, and who are being served by LCCS. Gift collection begins November 18 and runs through December 20, 2017.

The drive provides gifts for children living in foster care, with relatives or with their families under LCCS supervision. These children range in age from newborn to 18, as well as some post-emancipation youth up to age 21. While we are seeking gifts for all age groups, the agency is in particular need of gifts for children of all ethnic groups who are newborn to 4 years old, and gift cards for teenagers. Children up to age 11 are provided with up to three gifts, plus books and a stuffed animal. Youth 12 to 18 years are provided a gift card to shop a gift of their choosing.

Local residents are encouraged to drop a new, unwrapped toy in the collection boxes located around the community, or to make a financial contribution to the nonprofit Friends of Lucas County Children Services.

The success of this campaign is due, in large part, to the assistance of generous community partners. Companies already committed for 2017 include Allshred Services; Barnes & Noble Toledo; Bennett Management Corp., a franchisee of BURGER KING Corporation®; Franklin Park Mall; Kroger; the Shops at Levis Commons; Toledo Auto Care; Woodcraft; WRVF 101.5 The River; and WTOL-TV. Additional sponsorships and partnerships are welcome. For information this gift drive, contact Julie Malkin, LCCS, 419-213-3254.
